Arronbeth visit the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre!

Arronbeth recently visited the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre as part of our local area outdoor activity initiative!

This amazing centre has undergone an incredible £4.6m redevelopment between 2010 and 2011. This investment, in the local area, included lots of changes which are suited for budding amateur paddlers to internationally acclaimed Olympic kayakers!

These improvements were made just in time for the 2012 Olympic games and it is now recognised as a world class training facility!

This site received even more national acclaim when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, visited the site in Stockton on 18 July 2012 to officially reopen the International White Water Course as part of their Diamond Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom!

This site is open to the public who can take full advantage of the incredible facilities which we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep!

This is a fantastic form of exercise and a great way to learn something new and have fun. Our young people loved their day out kayaking and canoeing, in a taught class, where they learned and experienced some important techniques and skills, such as: how to fall in the water and be safe, hold the paddle, the forward stroke, dealing with the wind, reverse forward stroke, sweep stroke and the draw stroke, amongst others!

Until next time Tees Barrage!!
